Punjab Revises School Timings for Summer Season

The Punjab government has officially announced a revision in school timings for the summer months, effective from April 7 to October 15. This change aims to provide relief to students and teachers during the scorching heat.

Updated School Timings

According to the School Education Department (SED), school hours have been reduced by 30 minutes. The revised timings are as follows:

Single-Shift Schools:

  • Monday to Thursday: 7:30 AM – 1:00 PM

  • Friday: 7:30 AM – 11:30 AM

Previously, schools remained open until 1:30 PM, but the change is intended to help students cope with the summer heat.

Double-Shift Schools:

  • Morning Shift (Monday to Thursday): 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM

  • Friday Morning Shift: 7:30 AM – 11:30 AM

  • Evening Shift (Monday to Thursday): 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM

  • Friday Evening Shift: 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM

Strict Implementation and Compliance

District Education Authority (DEA) officials have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the revised schedule. Schools failing to adhere to the new timings may face legal action.

Additionally, schools have been granted flexibility to adjust opening and closing times by 15 minutes, depending on local conditions and student needs.
